The distance to which each person carries their dream is dependent on earlier training in the home. Let me entertain this thought a bit more. I have picked up on it through almost 15 years in working with other people in field of human services. There is a pattern of behavior that exists and holds persistently unless a person is willing to be helped and treated. In a household where the spoken idea or helpful action is often dismissed, there fosters a limited mindset. Not limited in the sense of capabilities or potential, but the extent that he or she will dare to do something new. It is the “something that just might work” kind of thought that stays imprisoned in a secret part of the self.
